And miles to go before I sleep, and miles to go before I sleep.

Hixon –> Meziadin Junction (430 miles)

I woke up refreshed after one of my best night’s sleep while camping and it was a good thing because I had a long day ahead of me.  It got down to 40°, which helped me get into a deep sleep. I wasn’t able to find an area free of roots to pitch my tent so I ended up using my thermarest pad for the first time. I had been too lazy previously, but I totally regret it. I will be using my sleeping pad every night going forward.

I headed out of Hixon towards Prince George and thought I’d give Tim Horton’s another try. I needed a place with WiFi to plot of my day and figure out where I should stay that night. I’ll stick with Krispy Kreme.

The ride was pretty boring all morning. All I got were straight roads and farmlands surrounding me. Luckily, the air was cool. Once I hit Houston the landscape started to change. I had saw mountains in the foreground and ran into them once I hit Smithers.

I stopped in Smithers for dinner and thought I’d try a what looked like a hole in the wall. Daddio’s ended up being janky on the outside and fancy on the inside. I was starving and ordered the crab artichoke dip and bruschetta chicken wrap. Suffice to say, they were both delicious.

I hadn’t had a chance to charge my phone and it was about to die. I decicided to try out my Anker solar charger by strapping it to the back of my bike. I figured it’d get plenty of direct sunlight now that I was so far north. My phone charged about 50% within 3 hours.

After I left Smithers, I had the mountains to my left the rest of the way until I turned off onto Highway 37. I thought I’d have another beautiful ride with mountains all around me, but I ended up being in a pine tree tunnel for the next hour. To break up the ride, I made a stop at Gitanyow to check out the totem poles.

I hadn’t planned to ride as far as I did, but it’s hard to stop when it’s light out all day. I ended up staying at Mezidian Lake Provincial Park, which is only a short ride to Stewart and Hyder.
